Welcome to the beautiful shoulder season of Spring on the island of Maui! May is the perfect time to visit, as it falls between the after-Spring Break rush and the summer madness. We love this time of the year on the island, as the weather is gorgeous, the crowds are
smaller, and right now there's a sense of renewed energy and progress in Lahaina's recovery.
Lahaina's Ongoing Recovery
Over the past few months, we've seen more positive developments in the recovery of Lahaina town. The vessel fuel service is being restored, and recent tests have shown that the Lahaina coastal water does not pose any significant risk to human health. The iconic banyan tree is also on the mend as well!
The state has announced that enough units have been converted into long-term housing or are in the construction phase to house the displaced fire survivors. The goal is to have all of the remaining residents currently staying in hotels transitioned into these new longer-term housing options by July 1st.
As the recovery and rebuilding efforts continue, the focus remains on restoring livelihoods and communities.
Stay tuned for more updates on Maui's ongoing recovery efforts. And if you're planning a visit, remember to travel responsibly, support local businesses, and be mindful of the island's delicate ecosystem. Together, we can help Maui emerge from this challenge stronger than
ever.
Safe Travels,
