We're stepping into magnificent Humpback Whale season, and things are cooling down to a frigid 70 degrees at times here on Maui. It's a beautiful time of the year, but there is still a lot of unease and unknown for our island community. As the news about the fire in Lahaina fades, we're here to provide the
latest updates and highlight positive transformations shaping West Maui this December.
1. West Maui Reopens:
West Maui officially opened to visitors November 1st, but please
note that Lahaina Town remains closed. While progress is evident, we are still in Phase 1 of recovery, and not all residents have been able to return to their properties.
2. Fire Debris Removal Preparation:
As we move forward, residents and property owners are gearing up for the next crucial phase – fire debris removal. This essential step is paramount for the rebuilding and restoration of our community.
3. Malama Maui
Pins:
In our ongoing efforts to support survivors and create a sensitive environment, we encourage visitors to be mindful of the experiences of those who have faced adversity. Our Malama Maui Pins symbolize this awareness and serve as a reminder that questions about a survivor's journey can be triggering.
