We're about to enter the final Summer month of 2022, and the island is bursting with life! Families are getting their final kicks before school starts, couples on romantic getaways and honeymooners are celebrating their love, and we're just happy to be open again and back to a level of normalcy!

The latest on Maui:

• Mid-July Tropical Depression Darby passed by Hawaii, causing a historic south swell with peak wave heights reaching 18 to 24 feet! This caused beach and road closures and significant erosion to certain Maui coastlines, namely Ka'anapali Beach. Watch our FB live.
• Gas prices remain high with a tiny hint of decline coming. The average regular unleaded gas price for Hawaiʻi is $5.59, while the average national price is $4.44!
• ʻĪao Valley State Monument will be closed from August 1, 2022 to January 14, 2023 for the final phase of a slope stabilization project and parking lot improvements.
• Airport security check lines leaving OGG Maui have been extremely long during certain times of the day. If your flight leaves between 10am and 2pm, plan 2-3 hours to get through security. Red eyes and early morning flights do not see the same issue.
• A non-mineral sunscreen ban will go into affect in MAUI county October 1, 2022 (Bill 135 was unanimously passed by Maui County Council back in November 2021). The county is working towards installing non-toxic sunscreen dispensers around Maui, but we don't recommend solely relying on those and to do your research on which sunscreens are non-mineral and reef-safe prior to arrival.
